CAMP LISA’S TOP LOCAL THINGS TO DO IN MIAMI RIGHT NOW: PART 3 (Winter Edition)
Being a Miami native, it has been really exciting to watch Miami grow and evolve. I feel like I am a part of Miami’s journey and Miami has been a part of mine.
Winter is the best season in Miami. The weather is great- it’s hot but not too humid — most days are in the 70’s and 80’s with a sprinkling of colder days to keep us on our toes! It’s the time to enjoy the outdoors as much as possible, so let Camp Lisa help you get out there!
SKYVIEWS MIAMI FERRIS WHEEL
Where you end up may be the same, but what happens in between is what matters. Miami has finally welcomed its very own Ferris Wheel, joining many other major cities around the world! This one has a view of Downtown, Museum Park, Biscayne Bay, and the port of Miami- all things that make Miami special.
Add in a visit to Bayside, browse through the Disney Store, the Marketplace, & maybe grab a bite at one of the restaurants or treat yourself to yummy ice cream.
RUBELL MUSEUM
The constant opening of new museums in our area has been very exciting. If you follow my newsletters and blog posts you know I love art, and if you’ve been paying attention you know I LOVE Yayoi Kusama. Kusama’s Narcissus Garden is a new installation that is front and center right now and it feels like a whimsical dream.

ARTECHOUSE
This is one place that you can revisit to experience something completely new and uniquely immersive. They’ve always kept visitors spaced out for the sake of the art and they are being especially careful in these times. The current installation is dedicated to Pantone’s color of the year: Classic Blue. Miami’s installation, named Aqueous, explores water! “Whether looking out at the vast horizon of the ocean or listening to the bubbling flow of a stream, water instills a sense of peace and relaxation.”

ZOO MIAMI
If you are a true Miami native like me, I am sure you still find yourself calling this the Metro Zoo. There are so many different animals here, more than you can recognize or imagine. The best way to explore this enormous zoo is by renting a group bike- you can actually reserve it in advance. Make sure to participate in one of the animal feedings — our fave is the giraffes — for an additional memorable experience.

THE BERRY FARMS
Did you go strawberry picking as a kid? I know I didn’t! This activity has become increasingly popular in South Florida over the years, and The Berry Farms is probably the best experience I’ve had, offering herbs and other vegetables and the most incredible sunflowers to pick. They have a restaurant, smoothie bar, and also soft serve ice cream. The gift shop has some yummy fruits and vegetables you can bring home with you but picking your own berries and beautiful bouquet will be so much more gratifying! It’s the season for strawberry picking, and The Berry Farms is the best place to do it.
RIVER OF GRASS EVERGLADES AIRBOAT
I guarantee that most of your local Florida friends haven’t done an airboat ride through these mysterious waters- don’t be one of them! People from all over the world fly in to visit the Everglades. It is considered a temperate deciduous forest and a flooded grassland. The biodiversity here is just astounding! In the middle of the trip my 4 year old just shouted out “UNBELIEVABLE” and that’s truly what an airboat experience is. Trekking over tall grasses, deep waters, shallow waters all with one of River of Grass’ passionate, knowledgeable guides who will point out all the cool plants and animals coexisting here, will be a unique experience to say the least. Private charters are available for 2–8 people.

BRING THE FUN TO YOU: BUBBLE TRUCK
This was absolutely thrilling to run through, and one of the most fun activities we had ever done without even leaving the front yard. Music playing, lots of bubbles, and just being present — it’s the solution to your birthday-planning-during-COVID-blues or something super out of the ordinary to do any day you’re in the mood to create memories! (PS their nighttime parties come with party lights!!!)
